An Indian man flying from New York to Delhi on an American Airlines flight was caught at the Delhi airport for reportedly urinating on his fellow passenger. The incident was reported on Monday.
According to sources quoted by PTI, the airline staff stated that the Indian passenger accused of the act was intoxicated and had an argument with the co-passenger before urinating on them.
The incident took place on board American Airlines flight AA 292 and the alleged ''unruly'' passenger was apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) after the plane landed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport at around 9 pm on Sunday.
The airline reported the incident to the Delhi airport authorities before landing, and both passengers were handed over to the Delhi Police. According to a senior police officer, legal action has been taken under non-cognizable offenses in the matter.
The police took action based on the complaint by the airline staff of the passenger's misconduct. However, as per the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Devesh Kumar Mahla, there was no evidence or complaint from co-passengers of the urination incident.
There have been recent reports of incidents where passengers allegedly urinated on their co-passengers after consuming alcohol, such as the case of Shankar Mishra who allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger in the business class of an Air India New York-Delhi flight on November 26, 2022.
The Delhi Police acted on the airline staff's complaint of the passenger's misconduct, but no evidence or complaint of the urination incident from co-passengers. In January, Air India banned a man who allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger from traveling for 30 days, and the Delhi Police arrested him shortly after.
On December 6, 2022, another similar incident occurred on an Air India Paris-New Delhi flight, where a passenger allegedly urinated on a vacant seat and blanket of a female passenger while she was in the lavatory.
